Emergency Medicine
A GP’s role is to stabilise and treat patients who are experiencing acute health problems or traumatic injuries.
GPs often encounter emergencies. Your GP is highly trained in assessing and providing quick & effective measures to ensure your health and safety. Common medical emergencies can include convulsions, head injuries, trauma, anaphylactic shock, chest pain and acute asthma attacks.
Some emergencies can be managed by your GP on-site, however, depending on the severity of the condition some may require a referral to hospital and / or an ambulance.
